On-Site Training
Training for your
field service & sales team can be scheduled with Intelligent Power
Solutions, Inc. The training will
consist
of "The ABC's of Power Quality". It is not our intent to make
the field service & sales teams power experts, but to make them
aware of the power quality issues and what effect they have on the sensitive
electronic equipment. Additionally we will provide them with an understanding
of what a good power solution is and problems that will occur with a
bad solution.

Battery
Maintenance
Nearly
all UPS systems rely on storage batteries to provide a high power DC
source from which AC power is created during a power outage. These batteries
must deliver at full capacity during the "ride through" period to ensure
your company stays on-line. Just as with a car battery, a single bad
cell can prevent an entire string of cells from delivering the power
you need to keep going. 
All batteries deteriorate
with time. The causes of deterioration are well understood. With the
right equipment, deterioration can be detected and corrective action
can be taken… including the preventative measure of cell replacement
before the cell actually fails. Regular battery health checkups are
key to ensuring that your UPS can deliver the ride-through power your
company depends on during a power emergency.
What You Need
to Know…
UPS Maintenance
& Service: New installations: You should feel confident that the critical
power system is composed of subsystem elements offering performance
and quality second to none. While your system elements are covered by
limited warranties furnished by the individual manufacturers, such warranties
do not guarantee that a failure of a component will not occur. These
limited warranties simply cover all or some of the cost of repairs to
return your equipment to service. While this is important, it does not
cover the cost of down time, possible equipment damage, lost revenue
and restart costs.
Just as with the
purchase of a new car, certain preventive maintenance operations should
be performed on a regular basis even during the warranty period to ensure
optimal performance and to identify potential problems before they result
in a failure. This type of service is more important in a critical power
system given that the costs are so high in the event of a failure of
the critical power system to deliver when you need it.
Lastly, small resistances
at the connection points from the generator and utility to the breaker
panels can adversely affect the high current delivery system supporting
your operations. Such resistances can cause line drops, hot spots and
eventual connection failure. Periodically, these connection points should
be inspected and re-torqued to ensure the highest integrity connections
possible.
You are encouraged
to become familiar with the preventive maintenance needs of each element
of your critical power system and ensure that experienced and properly
trained persons on a regular schedule complete each activity. In the
unlikely event that a system element does fail, the manufacturer as
part of validating warranty claims will require evidence of regular
preventive maintenance. Be sure you keep records of your preventive
maintenance activities.
The Right Tools…
When we test and evaluate your batteries, Intelligent Power Solutions,
Inc. experts use the state of the art equipment to obtain the best,
most accurate results possible. For example, our technicians are outfitted
with: Midtronics model 3200 or 5000 battery Testers Albercorp Cellcorder
Digital Hydrometers With this equipment the factory-trained technicians
can accurately diagnose the health of your UPS batteries. They can then
take corrective action or recommend cell replacements so the power is
always there when you need it.
Flooded Cell: Intelligent
Power Solutions, Inc. will inspect and test the customer battery plant
quarterly. Any required adjustment to electrolyte, cleaning of battery
terminals and connections and torque of interconnecting terminations
will be accomplished within the scope of the maintenance program. Annually,
Intelligent Power Solutions, Inc. will perform a load test and
make in-depth measurements of battery plant health and implement any
corrective action needed except battery replacements. We will prepare
a health report at the conclusion of each visit stating the work that
was completed, overall health of the battery plant and identity of any
jars requiring replacement to ensure battery plant performance. This
annual evaluation will count as one of the quarterly visits of the program.
Maintenance Free
Batteries: Intelligent Power Solutions, Inc. will inspect and
test the customer battery plant. Any required cleaning of battery terminals
and connections and torque of interconnecting terminations will be accomplished
within the scope of the maintenance program. Annually, we will perform
a load test and make in-depth measurements of battery plant health and
implement any corrective action needed except battery replacements.
We will prepare a health report at the conclusion of each visit stating
the work that was completed, overall health of the battery plant and
identity of any jars requiring replacement to ensure battery plant performance.
This annual evaluation will count as one of the quarterly visits of
the program. Intelligent Power Solutions, Inc. warrants
that the battery plant will furnish sufficient DC power to the associated
UPS for the period of time to which the battery plant was sized and
originally purchased, provided that all of the terms of the battery
maintenance agreement have been met. If the battery plant does not perform
and all of the terms of this agreement have been met, Intelligent Power
Solutions, Inc. shall replace all failed jars and battery plant components
contributing the failure at no cost to the customer.

Only Service Agreements, which are intended to ensure that your system
is regularly inspected: cooling air filters and passageways are clear
and clean batteries are ready to deliver during an outage connections
are sound and properly torqued cooling and lubrication fluids, as applicable,
are clean and full electronics are functioning properly and ready to
perform when the power goes out Is unquestionably covered by the manufacturer's
limited warranty should a failure occur Intelligent Power
Solutions, Inc. operates regional offices covering the 13 Western states
and offers 24 hours per day 7 days per week emergency repair and preventative
maintenance services on all varieties of UPS, batteries and power conditioning
equipment. We are a factory authorized service center for most UPS manufacturer's.
We offer first-year preventive maintenance contracts to ensure that
new equipment is fully maintained in accordance with all specifications.

3 Years 1st year PM only as above; 2nd & 3rd year PM plus UPS parts
& labor, plus 24x7 4-hour response emergency service PLUS 1 complete
switchgear test protocol at the end of the 3rd year as described above.
1:4 Program 5 years
1st year PM only as above; 2nd through 5th year PM plus UPS parts &
labor, plus 24x7 4-hour response emergency service.
1:4 Program Plus
5 Years 1st year PM only as above; 2nd through 5th year PM plus UPS
parts & labor, plus 24x7 4-hour response emergency service PLUS 2 complete
switchgear test protocols, one at the end of the 3rd year and 1 at the
end of the 5th year as described above.
All pricing is based
on preventive maintenance services being performed during normal business
hours, which for the purposes of a service agreement is between the
hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
